From the top of the Sandia Mountains in Albuquerque
I am truly convinced that little two year old girls are already showing their hormonal sides. Laila what would you like for lunch today. A samdwich. Grilled cheese I ask. Yes, she answers. I cut the perfectly cooked grilled cheese into little triangles, set it in front of her and the lip comes out, starts to tremble, large tears fall from her eyes and she is crying noooooo. I ask her again what she wants and its changed to a peanut butter and jelly samdwich. By now she is eating a plain piece of bread while I carefully prepare the peanut butter and jelly samdwich in front of her, making sure I am doing everything to her liking. Finally satisified we eat the plain piece of bread and a little bit of the PB&J. I feel sorry for Ian, puberty is going to be hell.
So the last few day’s it seems that I have technically challenged by Apple.
I love apple and all their products and I really get excited when they have a new update, until lately. I updated my system to Lion.

and it crashed my hard drive. No problem, I have apple protection and they replaced it for me free of charge. That was trip #1 to the apple store. Trip #2 was pick up the repaired computer and bring it home, to realize that my computer was like a new computer and I had no photos, no music, nothing. The family tried to help me restore everything from my backup, but we all had problems with that. Trip #3 to the apple store taking my computer and external hard drive. My computer spent the night again and Trip #4 was to pick it up. Happy Days, everything is running just fine, I thought. I tried to email some photos and the server did not recognize my password, hmmmmm now what. I made my appointment at the genius bar for last Saturday and Trip #5 started. They found some errors, corrected them and I can now email photos, and I bought a new iPad. Just give me some more Technology that I can mess around with. Let me know if you want any photos!!
Next system update was this past Wednesday with OSX5 and iCloud. I just can wait to put everything in the sky and and have all my devices talking to one another. Slight problem, when I open a web page and move it just a little so I can view what is on the desktop, the web page gets distorted and my folders fan out like a deck of cards. Lets try a phone call to Ian, I knew he had put iCloud on his computer that day. For some reason he thought this was quite funny and even call Colin on the phone to join in on my problems. Nothing got fixed that night and I scheduled another visit to the apple store for Saturday morning, just in case. About 4:00 in the morning i woke up and figured out my problem. Just turn the computer off and let it reboot. That was the fix, my web pages worked perfectly and my folders didn’t fan out like the deck of cards. See how smart I’m getting. Remember I still haven’t cancelled my Saturday appt. with the boys of the genius bar at the Apple store.
Lets open iPhoto Saturday morning and see if I can figure out how to get photos into the cloud. WTF, iphoto keeps crashing, I can’t believe this. Hurry up, take a shower, get dressed, pack up the computer, ipad (might as well get some iCloud help, and off I go for trip #6.
Nice genius at the apple store tells me they had an update that morning about the iPhoto problem and he knew how to fix it. Great, working again….
I get home, unpack my computer and get ready to starting sending photos to the cloud and guess what? iPhoto crashes again. I am, not going back up the road to the apple store. I spend a nice 30 minutes or more on the phone with a specialist and they have me trash something that was in system preferences and iPhoto is now working.
Thank you Apple, I still love all your products and services, but I don’t want to go back up the road for Trip #7 anytime soon. I really don’t think any of this was the cause of the user nor did it have anything to do with my age…
100 bags of mulch and we’re still not done. We are, however, done for the day!!!!!
While Ian and Henna are basking in the sun in Cancun with friends, David and I are sharing our vacation with Laila. This little girl keeps me smiling and laughing all day. Just a little while ago, she was standing by our coffee table making faces at her Pop-Pop, I was laughing so hard I didn’t get the chance to snap any pictures. She just loves her Pop-Pop and flirts with him all day long. I think she’ll get whatever she wants. Way to play it Laila.
Yesterday we traveled to Rehoboth Beach for a 4th of July BBQ at a friends house. We started out around noon from Felton and it only took us 2 hours to reach Dewey. The trip from Felton to Lewes was a lot quicker than the trip from Lewes to Dewey. I thought by Sunday everyone that was going to the beach would have already been there. I guess I was wrong. We didn’t get there early enough for beach time, but we enjoyed relaxing on Hal and Deb’s deck while we waited for them to return. Ian, Henna and Laila joined us before the BBQ.

Laila looked very cute in her Red, White and Blue dress. Thank you “Grammie Karen”

Laila was quite busy giving everyone “high fives” and sitting on Aunt Debbie’s step.
We moved the party to the Farina’s home for an afternoon BBQ. It was a beautiful afternoon for sitting outside and eating.

Lynn’s next door neighbors were also having a party, complete with Uncle Sam in the front of their house and his hat in the back.

I got a nice shot of Angie in the porch swing along with Lynn’s beautiful flowers.

Laila was practicing walking up Lynn’s hill. It doesn’t look high, unless you are 1 year old. She took a couple of spills along with a little roll back down.

Harold and Norma completed the Red White and Blue theme.
One of my neighbors just stopped by and asked me how my mother is doing. She is 95 and having a few health issues. We talked about what was going on and he asked me if our other neighbor had shared any stories about her father lately. He went on to tell me this story. Our neighbor stopped in the nursing home to visit her father one day and he told her that he needed to go to the eye doctor. He explained that he couldn’t see anything, even the TV. She couldn’t understand what was wrong, since they had just been to the eye doctor and he had new prescription eyeglasses. He told her that he had been using the red eye glass cleaner that her sister had dropped off. Well, she went into the bathroom to look for the “red” glass cleaner and discovered that her dad had been cleaning his eye glasses and the TV screen with “Robitussin”. His glasses and the TV screen were sticky with the cough syrup. Thank you, this was just the laugh that I needed.
I just had the most interesting lunch todayl. I stopped by Restaurant 55 after work and they had a watermelon burger listed on their special board. I inquired about the burger and ordered it. They sliced the watermelon in a circle, about the same size as a good burger. Then grilled it with balsamic vinegar, and topped it with spinach and red onion. The watermelon becomes very firm when grilled, so it holds up well on the bun. Now how healthy is that. Of course, I ended the meal with a red velvet raspberry cupcake. YUMMY!!!
I ran across this recipe in a blog that I follow. Who would not love this!
